Jet Heaters

When steam is released in cold water, the sudden collapse as the steam condenses produces noise and vibration. To prevent operation troubles, the jet heater is the propped device. 

 

It utilize the ejector principle to mix steam and cold water to get a uniformed distribution and a quite flow.All the heat of condensation in the steam is transferred to the liquid without any loss, with 100% thermal efficiency. A wide range of operation is available by simply variation of the steam and the liquid pressure. It is possible to get a liquid temperature up to 10°C the saturation temperature. On the other side the outlet pressure may be 1 Bar above the liquid inlet pressure. There are in line type heaters and tank type heaters. Inline heaters are designed for direct connection to liquid and steam lines. In operation, the liquid under pressure accelerate at the nozzle. The steam enters through a series of inclined cylindrical holes uniformly distributed. The high turbulence of jets improve the mixing of liquid and steam, so that the condensation is total at the the Venturi throat. In the diffuser the main liquid and condensate mixture deacelerate and recovers pressure following the Bernouille theorem.

 

Tank heaters are used when both heating and circulation action are required Sometimes, the liquid to be heated is mash or slurry, hence the anular jet with anular steam nozzle is preferable in order to keep clean the mixing chamber. When the task is to heat a liquid with a low pressure steam, the proper device is the Venturi heater. The operation principle is the following: the liquid expand at high velocity in a multijet nozzle up to a pressure less than the steam one, which is sucked and condensed at the mixing chamber.When steam is released in cold water, the sudden collapse as the steam condenses produces noise and vibration.
